It is possible that there will occur temporary pain after the insertion of an appliance or a multiband arch.

Because this is a new condition for the tooth, they need time to get used to the gentle movements. Especially the chewing of hard foods can cause a higher tension, the so-called bite block sensitiveness. Therefore we recommend for the first days after the insertion soups, joghurt or light and soft food, because those are a lot more comfortable.

If - despite adjusted diet - the discomfort doesn’t lessen, you can resort to an analgesic. This however should only be used according to the package leaflet.

A little trick from us: The power of the superelastic wires will decrease for a time, thanks to rinsing with cold water or sucking an ice cube.

You can try to bend the pricking spot back with the aid of your fingers or a pen. Alternatively you can cover the spot with wax, a piece of sugarfree gum or a little ball of tissue.

With the aid of your fingers or a pipette you can try to push the loosened arch back into one of the small tubes on the strap. If this isn’t possible and the spot is still pricking, please proceed as written above.
